I picked up these bright pink storage boxes at Target to go in the bookcase in Lauren's room. Now I can't decide if I like them. I've been moving them all around the bookcase trying to decide if I want to keep them...
If you have something like these at home, are they handy for putting small toys in? Are they user friendly for little ones? They are made of wood and I'm wondering if baskets would be better.

Hey Donna, I too had this type of bookcase and I had baskets I found them much more user friendly. The containers are nice but I think baskets are the way to go. My coffee table in my living room has baskets and I love them.
Just my thoughts! The pink is nice though!

I love it! Middle configuration is my preferred.
Keep smilin!
I think wood, plastic, or fabric containers are the way to go -- although my first pick now that I've seen the girls destroy a room in seconds would be drawers or something they couldn't just pull out and turn over. Oh well, too late now. :-) I've always been freaked out about baskets because they inevitably break or unravel a little and I always thought the girls would fall on the sharp pieces and poke an eye out (yes I'm totally paranoid, just ignore me!).
Hey girl, I love the third one!!!
If you are not in love with them there are other options. You will find that some sort of basket is very handy. A great way to keep and sort little items and they can be carried from room to room.
This site has some neat stuff.
I like the look of it and I'm guessing that's a chalkboard end to them? That's the part I have a problem with - even though I know why it's there. It's that little bit of OCD in me that keeps me from loving it. If you keep them, I like 2d config, too. I'm a basket or canvas girl, myself.
They are great! I have bins and boxes for all of my son's toys and for the toys in my in-home daycare. Personally I would put them all 3 on the bottom shelf as that is the shelf Lauren will go for the most. Then clean up is really easy just toss everything back in. Rather then have books and other things as the first things thrown off the shelf. Not that the things of higher shelves will stay either. But I find it best to have the bottom shelf or two all bins and then books and bigger toys and things up a bit. It's a great shelf. And it looks like Lauren has a great book collection already! How fun!
I hope that doesn't sound like I am trying to discourage books being in Lauren's reach. I think it is very important to let kids play with all kinds of books as early as possible. In fact when my son was little a lot of books only lasted a time or two because he loved to chew on them and always tried to turn pages him self. As a book love it was hard to see books being hurt but as a mom it was more important that my son know what books were all about :)
Okay.. we have the big wall unit.. and we have both.. baskets and those pink tubs.. I am going to put the wooden ones on top until she is a little older.. but I like the middle picture...
Where did you get the bookstand.. I have been looking for one..
I think they are fine..
HUGS..
Buckets are a great way to organize ...especially on the more lengthy shelves.
We bought some "foldable" colorful mesh buckets from Tarjay and they are a lifesaver! Great way to divvie up the various topics.
I think baskets would look nicer with the white paint. Plus I would put them on the bottom shelf because she will be pulling them out, and that way they won't fall on top of her.
We also have lots and lots of books and Hannah takes her books out to have read to her more than she plays with her toys just now. Looking forward to seeing Lauren reading her books!
I'm liking the third picture.... you have such great taste, whatever you do will be wonderful.
My favourite is the middle pic with the 3 across the top.
If they are at all heavy they need to be on the bottom so she can't conk herself
For that reason I kind of like plastic bins . . .
My 2 year old son has torn up baskets. As soon as I found a piece, they were gone. I have some of those wooden bins from Target & love them. We also have plastic buckets that are great b/c he can push them from room to room.
Thank You - Thank You - Thank You for the positive vibes! I loved the deal about the seat belt :) I'm going to see if I can cinch mine up a bit more :)
Thank you again - much appreciated...

I like the 3 in a row:)
I think they look nice and would LAST being wood.
We use these to store barbies, ponies, and little stuffed animals. I would put them on the bottom shelf for easier access. They are really cute! :)

Hey Donna,
I have those bins for Jacobs room and it is one of the few things he has not been able to destroy yet! So I think they are the way to go. The room is looking great!
i LIKE IT! I like the last 2 pics the best.
And just thought i'd say "I've got that!" (the ladybug toy/book)!
Love bins at school in the preschool room. Makes learning how to clean up (and sort!) much easier. The pink is so pretty. I have soooo many children's books due to school and my mom's love for buying books! Hmmm..Do you think the bookshelves will stay so nice and neat or is that wishful thinking on my part?! I've seen the damage those salsa twins can do! Can't wait! =)
Aunt Donna,
I like the third pic best with the buckets scattered. I think the buckets are cute and they look durable. Baskets would look pretty nice, too, but I think what you have looks great.
