The bathroom is adorable!!! Less than 3 weeks now! I bet Grandma Linda is SO EXCITED TOO! I might just have to steal your packing list LOL!!! It's nice & neat!! When I was putting my list together for Allie I couldn't read it! We will have to get the girls together, when Hannah comes home she will be only 3 months younger than Lauren!
Lauren is going to be living the high life once she gets home with you! All of her rooms are like something from Better Homes & Gardens-they are just gorgeous!
Oh, and can I tell you how excited I'm getting for you guys!! YIPPEE!!
Donna, My name is Ruth and I am a fellow Precious Panda who traveled to China in mid-September to get our daughter. I check your blog often just to see how things are going. I think I may have commented before.
I saw your post a few days ago about packing list for those who have been there done that. I just thought I would add my 2 cents for you for what it's worth.
1) If you anticipate at all having your menstrual cycle and you use tampons, bring plenty (as you cannot buy them in China- they don't have them) and keep them in your suitcase not on the bathroom counter. The maids will take them and throw them away when they clean your room.
2) Bring only a bottle or two extra. Your daughter will come with one from the orphanage and may be very attached to it. I brought several and our daughter would only take the one she came with.
3) A baby carrier is a must. We didn't bring one and bought one there however it didn't have very good back support making for sore backs often.
4) Also, buy a cheap umbrella stroller in China (some hotels/businesses will have them for you to borrow). Having it to maneuver through the airports was priceless to us and could be to you as well.
5) Each of the hotels we stayed in we asked them for a converter box to use for computers to post, check email, watch movies etc. We found that we didn't need an adapter, though we had them in case.
6) I ditto others - don't bring a lot of toys for her. Stacking cups can be doubled for bathtime play. A book or two with fun pictures. Keep in mind, your daughter may or may not have had much access to toys, therefore not really knowing what to do with them. Our daughter played with a frisbee we brought and backpack straps, sunglass cases, etc.
7) Bring snacks you like for the airplane ride. You can buy snacks in China, however you might not be able to recognize what it is due to the language. We were able to buy bread, peanut butter and jelly to offer sandwiches in our room, as eating out got old after a while.
I'm sure I could go on and on. If you should have any questions, please feel free to email me and I can share with you whatever my experiences were.
