Book advice please...
I'm going to place a book order on Amazon soon and I'm wondering if I could get some advice.
Should I get both the What to Expect the First Year and What to Expect the Toddler Years or should I get just one of them. Keep in mind that we are pretty clueless when it comes to babies.
I'm starting to get nervous about baby care while in China and feel like I should be reading one of these books or something similar. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Here's some more daily scrapbook pages I put together today...I'm having fun using all the digital supplies I've been downloading over the past 6 months or so...

I honestly would get both books. I loved them both and found them soooo helpful!
I also have the "Focus on the Family- Baby and Child Care" book. Great for "medical stuff".
I never had those books so I can't help you there but the pages look great! I have been having fun with my digital stuff too!
Both are great but if I HAD to choose just one.....I'd go for the Toddler and then keep my eyes open for the Baby book at every garage sale I passed.
Both books are great. I found them helpful.
Can you tell me what digital scrapbook program you are using? I love your pages.
Thanks

Donna, I would get both books. I have both books. You'll be fine in China! I can't say it won't be scary but there are enough of us to help out if needed. I sure don't know a whole lot about parenting...but I'm not afriad to ask or even beg for help if I think I need it. I'm one of those girls that doesn't ever like to ask for help but when it comes to my daughter...that's a whole different ballgame! I'll do what I have to. My best friend, that is going with me, is a mom of a 2 and 4 year old. She'll be my greatest resource! If you want, you can use her too. ha. ha.
No worries, you're a great mom already!!!
Love your digiscrapin'!!!!
I have never been much of a book learner. I did buy some attachment books and those were helpful. I honestly think most of it is instinct (you and Joe have that!) and helpful hints you pick up from other people. I learned so much from watching other people as well. One thing you may want to consider is just spending a day with some friends who have their babies and just observing and asking questions. You're going to do great!
Donna, I just got the toddler book as in most cases the babies will be close to a year and the second book is much better in my opinion. Just my two cents worth.
Shauna and MacLean xo
PS LOVE LOVE the pages!
Donna, I have both books and they are really good. Even though your baby may be closer to a toddler when you get her, I think it would help to have the other book as well. You will want to do some re-parenting anyway because you have not had your child from birth. It would be helpful for you to know some of the things you missed and may can still do.
I ended up buying both for the price of Toddler. I guess if you go on Ebay you can find great deals on these.
Love your scrapbooking... you do a wonderful job..
And I agree with Julie... You will know what to do... it will just come to you..Just like any motherhood...
You are going to be a WONDERFUL MOMMY..

Both books are GREAT! I agree with Lisa and Tate...check out Ebay!
Love the scrapbooking pages. What program are you using?
I have First Year one...bot it used. Get them both used.
Love the layouts.
Keep smilin!!
You have probably already placed your order. But, I'll let you know that I had and used What to Expect in the First Year a lot. I don't think the Toddler one was available when my kids were little. Since you don't know how old your daughter will be, I'd recommend both books. Even if she is one year old when you get her, it will be good to have read the first book and know what she should have accomplished developmentally and physically already.
Also, you will be fine in China! No parent goes in really knowing what to do and expect even when they give birth. Just read the information, ask lots of questions, and spend a lot of time with her. After a few days, you'll feel like a pro. :)
