Great movie line...

I saw Martian Child with John Cusak (my fav) over the weekend. There was a line in the movie that gave me chills since it hit so very close to home...
Why bring a child into the world when you can love one who's already here?
Great line, huh?

The movie is about a bestselling sci-fi author (Cusak) who is widowed. A couple of years after his wife's death he decides to adopt as a single father, since him and his wife were planning on adopting before she died. He adopts this boy who has been abandoned by parents in the past and has put a wall up around him by pretending to be a martian. He plays this martian thing to the hilt and has been passed around from person to person since no one really knows what to do with him. The story is about how Cusak breaks through his shell and ends up allowing the boy to let his defenses down. Pretty good movie...if you're a Cusak fan, like me, you'll like it.

This is one of the GOT TO SEE movies on my list. So glad it ended up being good and not a disappointment.

I've heard a lot about this movie...and seen the previews. It looks like a great movie! I can't wait to go see it.

P.S. I'm a Cusack fan, too!

I thought it was awesome. I love it! It had me in tears a few times, but I think it was just pre-referral emotions as I received The Call 24 hours later!

Hey that's my line!!! When I'm asked "why China? or why adopt?" I've always said those exact words. One of my close friends was extremely hurt by those words - at the time she had 4 children, and was planning a 5th. She took it, that I disapproved of her having babies. Which of course I don't!!! I love babies, and don't care where they come from. But for our family... we choose to love one that is already born.

I had not heard about this movie... I did copy your words to link on my blog; they are great and I hope to use that quote often.
I must admit, though, that I fall into the group that couldn't bring one into the world.
