Thank you...

for all the comforting words and your thoughts and prayers over the loss of our sweet Addy. Hearing from all of my bloggy friends has helped Joe and I both get through the past week without her. We are doing much better now and trying to focus on the long and happy life she had and how lucky we were to have her all those years. We are blessed to have so many good friends who have shown their support...thank you.

I couldn't help but snap this photo of Lucy the other day after her walk.

She jumped up on the sofa and laid her paw right down on the remote. Guess she wanted to veg and watch some TV...maybe Animal Planet?

Joe and I met my brother and his family and my mom last night at a brand new shopping area near us so my nephew could visit Santa.

Of course, I ended up checking out all the sale racks in the children's clothing stores. I got this cute fleece outfit for Lauren in The Children's Place for $16 total. I'm hoping it will fit next winter. It's a 6-9 mo. size. If you're already back from China, what size was your daughter wearing while there and a few of months after being home?

Cute pic of Lucy!
As far as sizes...it's so hard to say. Eliza was probably in 6-12 months for the first few months, but Anna (from the same orphanage/travel group) was probably in 18-24 months. I guess it depends on the kid. Who cares though, it was fun buying it wasn't it? Then that's all that matters! Just keep receipts!!!

You're buying quite a bit there! Once you're finished buying millions of outfits that probably won't even fit, how are you going to afford to even care for the baby?

I've got a few of those smaller sizes too. Have no idea if they'll fit - but I figure there's always ebay, if I need to sell them!!! (keep the tags on!)

Dear Anonymous...

I haven't quite reached the million mark on the outfits yet, but I do have a closet full of clothes for our daughter to be... just as it should be. After waiting so long to be a momma, I deserve to enjoy myself during this wait by shopping like any other expectant mother would.

And your concern about the care of our daughter...she will be very well taken care of and surrounded by many people who love her.

Thanks for your concern...

Donna

dear anonymous

After waiting so long for her child, my daughter has the right to buy as many things as she wants. Your concern that she won't be able to care for her child is not something you need to worry about. Lauren will be well cared for and loved by all in the family and will never want for anything.
I don't understand why you feel the need to ask that question. It seems to me that you have a problem or maybe you are just having a bad day? If so I hope you have people that care for you and can help you understand you don't need to say hurtful things to people to make yourself feel better. Chose to be postive and that will come back to you. if you put out negative, that will come back to you, but if you put out postive, your life will be alot better... a Proud Mom and Waiting Gramma for Lauren .. PS soon I will be shopping too...

When I was in China to get Maya, she was already nine months old and was wearing nine month clothing. Bigger is usually better when buying for kids (anyway, you'll probably get tons of little stuff once your referral comes in, so you might be better off buying things like 2T & 3tT pajamas to store for when she is older).

Love it...
And the outfit is SOOO CUTE!!!!!
I don't know about sizes..
I have bought all sizes.. but mainly the 12 thru 24 months..
I am scared to buy smaller..
I think the outfit will fit her...
Sorry to see that anonymous people have to write things on your blog...
They must be very depressed or sad...
but everyone else knows that we buy buy buy.. so it is okay girly to do whatever you want..
Hugs to you

First off to Anonymous..... there is no doubt you could give a rat's butt about Donna's baby. I'm sure shocking people and getting people worked up was your main intent. My only question is why comment under Anonymous? Why not sign your name? Wait. Don't answer that. I already know. Miserable people like yourself never want to own the nasty words they spew on other people's blogs. Plus..... not to be rude, but why do you care how many outfits Donna buys for her baby? Just wondering. I have a few other choice words for you but Donna's wonderful, gracious mother is a reader and I have more respect for Donna than that.

Second off to Donna..... Lily was 11 months on Gotcha Day in April and was wearing 6-12 months clothing. She pretty much stayed that size until fall when she finally jumped up to 12-18 months. Hope this helps. I know it's all so dependent on the individual baby and the orphanage they come from. Lily came from a wonderful orphanage and was very well cared for. Oh, and not that my opinion matters, but you keep shopping away to your heart's content. It's food for your waiting mama's soul, so to speak. :)

I have to agree with Stephanie ...start focusing on sizes 2-4 as she'll grow out of the smaller sizes pretty quickly.

I brought a bunch of size 6-9 months to China, none of which fit Charlotte. Silly me to think my baby would naturally be "smaller framed." :) She was a chunk and at 12 months she was already 20 lbs and wearing 12-18 mo. clothing. I had to buy clothing for her while in China (which was great because now we have some great things from Charlotte's homeland).

So get on out there and shop 'til you drop ...for cute clothes in the next size catagories.

P.S. - Lucy's looking fine in her little ensemble ...and very well-cared for. ;-P

Hmmmmmmmmmm.....

I just find it kind of odd that someone would judge another person for being able to provide for her child. Perhaps Anonymous's parents weren't able to provide for him/her. That, unfortunately, happens all the time for myriads of reasons, sometimes by just life taking a wrong turn and sometimes by people making poor choices. Either way, it's very sad.

Look at it this way: If Donna is caring this much for her daughter before she even has her, how much do you think she's going to care for her when she gets her?

By the way, Donna, how is Lucy handling the changes?

lots of love,

I am so sorry about Addy. I know how much you loved her.

The outfit is adorable. Ava was wearing 6 month clothing until a few months ago so that should work out fine.

2008 will be a great year for you and I look forward to following your journey!

hi Donna, I was so excited to find an expectant adoptive mom in Chandler! I live in Gilbert and we are about a month from DTC date. We're well behind you on the wait but it's always great to have someone else to follow and learn from. And, if it makes your Grumpy anonymous blogger feel any better.... Lexi has 47 pieces of clothing and we don't even have a LID!! Anyway, I wanted to say hello and alos ask you how you got your blog looking so cute! Do you use a service other than blogger.com? email me some time, I'd love to know what agency your with as well. missmary5@cox.net

Keep on shopping! But don't forget to save money to shop in China! So many cute outfits you will want to have in China. My daughter was 11 months old at Gotcha day and she wore anything from 3-6 months to 6-9 months. She can still wear some of her smaller clothes. Just depends on how they are made. I hope that you will receive your referral soon. Hang in there, it really does happen and you will be so blessed!

Keep shopping!
