After all your advice on using a harness and a call from my bloggy friend, Shannon (mom to twin boys), I decided to open up both harnesses and try them out. Shannon said her boys loved their monkey backpacks, so I decided to open the pink doggy first. As you can see it was a hit with Little Miss...
She loved having the doggie strapped on and when I tried to take it off to try the other harness it just wasn't happening. I guess we'll give the other one a try tomorrow.
Shannon also told me about temporary tattoos you can order so your child has ID on their body. I know I'm a crazed new momma, but I found SafetyTat and had to order some for Disney. They are really cute, as you can see here...
and if Lauren happens to get separated from us somehow our cell phone number will be printed on it. I know I'm being an over protective momma bear, but I just can't help it.
Oh, and I had to post a couple of pics today since I think she looks so cute in these colors (hey, I just noticed that I ordered the tattoos in the same colors)...
Momma, I can't take even one more picture...ok, here comes the whining...

I don't think you're overprotective - I think it is naturally how we all are once we are parents.
Have you thought of trying old-fashioned reins on Lauren? Their big benefit over a harness like the ones you have is that - because they have a shorter, looped strap fastenend on both sides of the body/harness - you are able to keep her upright when she trips/stumbles, so you prevent a lot of skinned knees and sore hands.
I think the tatoo is a great idea. I always hate when I see children wearing their name - like on a t-shirt - as I remember reading how this was used by predators to make the child think they knew them: 'if I know your name, I'm not a stranger.' Terrifying.
Hope you have a great trip!
Great ideas! I don't think you can be too overprotective nowadays :) Cute pictures of Lauren! She looks great in pink and green!
I don't think one can be too overprotective these days. Great ideas! (Before we leave the car in the morning, we also take a full-body pic of the Tongginator on our digital camera so that we have a photo of her outfit.)
As far as I'm concerned there is no such think as overprotective unless it gets in the way for your kids growing up and socializing! You are just being a good mommy!
Have fun in Disneyland!

Love the doggie harness. Lauren is too cute. I don't think it is over protective with the safety tats. That is a great idea!
Don't worry, you can never be too careful. I love the doggie harness!!! I hope you have a wonderful trip!!!!

PS the tatoos are a great idea!!!
Little kids are very fast. I remember one incident when Tyler was that age and decided to play hide and seek inside of a department store with lots of rounders of clothing. It was not fun. Luckily there was almost no one there. I think these are a great idea for anyplace with large crowds. Especially until she can tell people her name and parent's name at a minimum.
What a cutie pie! She's precious!
Thanks for the safety tip. Great idea for everyday. I am going to definitely check this out!
Happy Easter to you all.

she is adorable. I am sure those parents who have lost children to stranger danger wouldn't think you are being overprotective!!
I agree, you can never be too careful. I was at DisneyLand a month ago, you are going to have SO much fun!!
While we were there and at a food stand some women came to the vendor with a lost girl. She was about 6 and was obviously very scared :( The vendors reaction was rather slow I thought and while I waited for my order we saw the frantic mother running by and flagged her over. Apparently the staff at DL are told to wait up to 10 min before sending out the call. Their theory is that the parents are usually nearby. I tend to think sending out pages for missing kids would not bade well for the atmosphere in the Happiest Place on Earth!
Long winded, sorry!
Have a wonderful vacation :)
