Black thumb has been confirmed...

Well, I guess it's definitely confirmed that I DO NOT have a green thumb. I had posted previously about my little cactus pots that I was sure I couldn't kill, but I shouldn't have been so sure of myself.

After watering them every other week and lovingly placing them near the window every morning, I came home the other day to a surprising sight...

Check out how the one on the right totally deflated! I didn't know a cactus could do this. The one on the left has black spots on the top and bottom and the middle one decided it couldn't even stand up anymore.

Note to CCAA: I know this looks really bad, but I promise that this ONLY happens with plants. ;)

Well my hubbys trick with his cactus is that he only waters it about once every 4ish months. Then it has a little growth spurt and seems happy until the next time it gets watered.

And don't worry, I kill all my plants but so far my 13 month old son seems to be doing just fine!

What the?? That must have been a defective cactus! It deflated!!!! 2 out of 3 is not bad, though. :)

and about CHINA GHOSTS, I am reading it right now. Only 1/2 way through. I agree, very good book. The author is amazing and so intuned to the all the aspects of their adoption. I am very impressed and glad that it touches on the bigger picture...and not just one little girl. I am looking forward to finishing it.

Looks like any and every plant I've ever tried to grow! I finally gave up.

Well, I was beginning to worry about the fact that 5 out of 9 plants/bushes that were on this lot have died since I moved in here. I was convinced that the landlady would not be pleased. But today I went to a nursery and showed them what was planted here. They said that 2 of the bushes should not have been planted in full sunlight like they were, and 1 of them was a bush that acts like a weed: They've never seen them purposefully planted anywhere and most people get rid of them when they do appear! So there's my advice: Go to a nursery with a picture and hope they come up with a reason for their deaths that doesn't come back to you!

Tee hee. I did the same thing. Cacti are NOT unkillable. :-)

Hey ! I don't do too well with anykind of plants either, but I think you are probably giving them too much water. Good luck with those !

Hehehe. I say the same thing. It's a good thing I am better with people than I am with plants or I would be out of a job and in court all the time.

Embrace your black thumb and make peace with it. I finally did ;0)
