Nursery & Hummingbird update...

Check here for our latest project in Lauren's room.

Sad news on our tiny tenant, but she has abandoned her nest for some reason. A day before she left there was a wind storm and one of the tiny jelly bean sized eggs fell out and broke. It was the saddest thing to see...I even got a little teary eyed over it. That night, we checked on the other egg, which looked fine. She sat on her nest for another day and then took off and never came back. I was so worried, I e-mailed a hummingbird society I found on-line and they had confirmed that if she had been gone for more than an hour she isn't coming back. Now I'm wondering if the egg that is left will hatch. Does it need the warmth and nurturing from the momma to hatch? Anyone have a clue on this?

The border looks beautiful!

And that is such a bummer about the mama bird. I would have cried too...

So sad about the hummingbird. Did the hummingbird people say why?

I'm not the hummingbird expert but I would be very surprised if the egg hatched without mom's warmth to incubate. Hate that for you all and your feathered mom-to-be...

Sorry you are going thru rough times. I love the room. The colors are wonderful........Emily's room looks like Pepto....sad, but I OD on the pink........

I noticed with our agency that the babies were older this time which makes me crazy to think they have been sitting there waiting to be referred....ok I'll be good.....

Oh...so sad. It has been very windy here and my dad had to help me clean eggs off the siding. I wonder how much birds are emotionally attached? Thanks for the pictures of your project...inspiring!
