Gosh, I don't know where the time goes anymore! Since I've been home on leave I hardly know what day of the week it is or what date it is on the calendar. The days have a way of all running together and the weeks are just flying by.
We've been busy with fun stuff like Gymboree play classes, story time at the book store, play dates, the park, mornings at the zoo, the mall play centers, shopping, etc. This fun, carefree life all goes away on May 11th when I go back to work full-time. At that point I will definitely know what day of the week it is, because I'll be counting the days until the weekend!
I'm just now starting my quest for daycare, since Joe just got a temporary job through June. All along the plan was to have him stay home with Lauren until he found a permanent job, so I feel like I'm getting a late start on this. Today I checked out a Chinese daycare we have close by and I have an appointment with Tutor Time on Thursday. I'm going to check out Kindercare next week and we also have a few locally owned centers I'd like to check into.
For the month of April, my focus will be on getting Lauren ready to be separated from us during the day. Up until now, she has always been with one of us (mostly me) so this is going to be a challenge. I'm going to start by leaving her with family for very short periods of time and building up the time slowly. Also, the center we select needs to work with us by letting me leave her for short periods of time several times before she's there for the whole day. I'm not sure who this will be harder on...her or me. I'm betting me!
Well, here's some pics from the past week...
Momma, stickers are fun...do you want one?
They have fun stuff to play with at Gymboree...
Warm chocolate chip cookies are yummy...
I had fun holding hands with Aunt Stephanie and Emily at the Arts Festival...
Josh gave me a horsey-back ride...
and he likes to pick me up and carry me...
he takes good care of me...
Also, I tried my hand at making some fun hair clippies. They aren't perfect or fancy, but I think they turned out kinda cute. Look, Stephe, they actually have a little bit of bling...are you proud?
In April we are taking Lauren to Disneyland as our last hurrah before I go back to work. Before you say it...I know she's too young, but the trip is honestly more for us than for her anyway. I've been waiting a gazillion years to take a Disney trip with our own child and I'm not waiting any longer! ;) I made these hair clippies with our trip in mind...

I need some of those disney clippies..lol.
Have a great week.
Hugs..
Cute clips, but even cuter pics of Lauren!
Hope you find a good Daycare, I am lucky my mom has a home daycare business.
Firstly, I'm SO jealous that Lauren wears clippies!!!
Secondly, good luck with the daycare search (I don't envy you!)
Thirdly, I'm rapt that Joe has a job! Even if it is temp. I'm sure he'll woo them, and get it permanently!
Fourthly (is that word?! I think most people are done, at "thirdly" aren't they?!!) love your pics!
Enjoy your time at home -- it does fly by! Looks like Lauren is doing fabulously! Daycare dropoffs will probably be harder on you, but it will be ok.
Janet
I'll be praying for you as you look for the best childcare you can for Lauren. Like you said, it will probably be harder on mommy. :o)
Adorable little hair clippies! The Disney ones are the best!!! Like you, I can't wait to take my little one to Disney and I believe they can never be too young! Sure, they may not remember it later but you'll never forget the looks on her adorable little face when you're there. Have a great time!!
Where did you find the cute little Mickey heads to make your clippies? Great job!!
What cute little clippies!
We took our son to Disney World when he was just a couple of months over 2. He loved it (we did toddler type activities and rides only, though). It was a wonderful family vacation. Can't wait for pics!
Can I just say I want Lauren's wardrobe...:)
I know exactly how you feel about Disneyland. I only live 1.5 hours from it, and it's all I can do not to take Elizabeth (20 months) yet...Enjoy! Good luck with your Day Care search.
Yay for the temporary job for Joe!
Those clips are so cute. I especially love the Disney ones.
Hey, maybe I could meet you at Disneyland one day while you are here? That was where I met you the first time, long, long ago when you were still waiting, and I would love to meet sweet Lauren(and see you again!)
Lauren looks adorable in all the pictures:) I can see her cousins do not like her much:)
Your Clips are really cute!!!
Good luck with the daycares.
The clippies are so cute and Lauren is even cuter. Isn't it great to be a MOM?
Your hair clippies are great! Good job!! Have a wonderful time at Disney (Orlando?). Lots of bloggy friends in the area!
Alyzabeth's Mommy for Six Months
My friend took her 1 and 2 year olds to Disneyland and they had a blast! I'm sure you guys will too!!!
She will have fun at Disneyland too! You'll just have to focus on age appropriate rides. We took Emily when she about that age. Consider getting the picture with Mickey. We have one from each of our visits and it is fun to see them grow in relation to Mickey. :)
She will be fine in daycare but you are right it will be hard for you to leave her the first few times.
Enjoy Disneyland. It will be for you guys and it will be the best memories. We took Mia at 3 years old and the look on her face when she saw the princesses was unforgetable.
Susan
I'm guessing that she is warming to clippies in the hair? Yes?
Yes, it will kill you to leave her. But she may surprise you. She is a little trooper, that one.
Let me know what your schedule is when you come to So Cal. Maybe we can connect if it fits with your plans. But certainly, no obligation. I know how crazy trips get. ;-)
How fun- I love Disneyland! I took Ava while on maternity leave and it was lots of fun even though we couldn't go on too many rides. She still really enjoyed it.
Yep, I'm in the same boat. I will be going back part-time quite soon and full-time with night call in May. The time HAS flown by but I only had 6 full weeks off so that's understandable.
I will be easing Claire into daycare for 'visits' next week already.
Hope things go well for Lauren during the transition.
We just did Disneyland and I can attest by what I saw that Lauren will love it! So will you and your hubby :)
Enjoy your time off! I know I did and it goes so fast. The search for daycare can be tough so good luck with that. It sounds like you're having lots of fun with your little one. Isn't it great!!

I am so glad you are getting this special time with Lauren and hope that you find a really good childcare
Disneyland sounds great for you all
One is NEVER to young for Disney. We took Sophia to Disney World as soon as we were home. She loved it and still does. Enjoy yourself and the moment you have been waiting for. Love the hair clips.. Good luck with the Daycare/Preschool search we are in the same boat right now looking for a good PreSchool for Sophia.
Hugs
Susan
