Pondering...

Last weekend Joe and I changed our spare bedrooms around to empty out my former craft room for Lauren's nursery. Now one room is my craft room/computer room (I'll post a photo soon), one is empty for Lauren, and one has the treadmill and various other "stuff" that needs to be organized into the closets.

What I'm pondering and having a hard time deciding is whether we go ahead and start painting and putting together Lauren's nursery now or wait for a while. Also, do I redecorate the guest bathroom now or wait on this. I guess I'm stuck on this because I wonder if I want the room all done and just sitting empty for the rest of our long wait (which seems to be getting longer and longer by the day) or wait and do the room sometime much closer to our referral.

I just wonder how I will feel having a completed, empty nursery sitting there for months on end. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Well, for what it's worth.....

I have an almost done nursery and it doesn't bother me one bit. Yet. I was anxious to get started and see what it was gonna look like. Plus, it's winter here and I wanted to be done before spring when I'll wanna be doing stuff outside. Going by her room every day makes me smile because I know eventually she'll be in there enjoying the fruits of our labor. I know it does bother some people, but apparently, not all of us. I like seeing her pretty colorful room and when I bring outfits home that I've bought, it's nice to have some place cute to put them away.

So there you have my two cents!

I've been wondering this same thing and we were just DTC last week. I think we are going to start w/the guest bathroom and then do the nursery. I am going to try and re-do the dresser from when Jon was a baby so I will start on that also. It may turn out a disaster and I will need to purchase one. Good luck.

Donna,
We are feeling the same way, yet I know when the weather breaks there will be less time. We are just doing a bit at a time, in hopes that it will be our diversion during this long wait. We are also tackling a few other home type projects first just to pass the time. I didn't want the nursery to be done for 6 months with no baby in it myself. Good luck.

Donna - I say do it! We were LID 10/28 - and just finished the nursery a few weeks back. We can be traveling anywhere from Sept - to ??? It made me feel good to work on it and buy things for it. Now that its done - I go in there everyday and just sit in the middle of the floor. Sometimes I play with some toys - sometimes I look thru her clothes. It helps me - so I say go for it!!! :-)

Do it in bits and pieces, but make sure that you are set in what you want. If I start too soon, I will probably change my mind in 3 months and want to change it..grrr.

I like having the crib up because it is reminding me that there will be a baby in there...however, i just remembered that if I have to take it out of the room for any reason, it has to be taken apart..grr again.

So it depends how you feel about an empty nursery. I actually feel good when I am in there and feel closer to my little one. But if it makes you sad - don't do it.

Donna,

I have been going back in forth about the nursery issue, too. Part of me really wants to get it done. I have all Ayden's bedding fabric, her crib (still boxed in the garage), her dresser, lamp and other items that I have purchased. Personally, I don't like the idea of her nursery set up and sitting unused for 10 months or so. The thought kinda depresses me. Also, I figure when the waiting starts getting difficult in a few months, it will give me something to keep me busy! It gives me something to look forward to!

I know the feeling. For longest time the joke around here was the room was my "shrine".
