Look at her now!

We have updated photos of our daughter thanks to Ann at Red Thread China! Click on image to enlarge.

Doesn't she look like the sweetest little girl? Part of me wants to just scoop her up and bring her home to the family who is waiting so patiently for her and part of me feels so guilty for what we are about to put her through. This may sound strange for those of you still waiting for your referrals, but once you know who your daughter is and can stare endlessly at her photos you start to feel sad about turning her little life upside down. I know that she will have a much better life with a family of her own who will love her unconditionally, but right now at the age of 20 months she thinks the orphanage is home and the nannies are her caregivers. The idea of what she will have to go through those first couple of weeks with us in China grieving for her home and caregivers tears my heart out. I wish there was a way for her to transition more slowly to our family without all the heart ache.

It's amazing to see how much Lauren has changed from her first photo to the one we just got. It's wonderful to see her looking so healthy and cared for in all her photos.

she is just adorable! love the little pout in the one pic -and she's so precious in the other with her thumb up to her mouth.

am praying for all of you as you transition to a family of 3, but especially for her little heart as she leaves all she's known to come and trust and love you.

Look how your precious little girl is growing! Soon that will be happening when you're with her.

Praying for all of you as you prepare to meet. I understand your heart wanting to make the transition as easy as possible. I too wishe the transition time wasn't quite so abrupt for the babies. Will pray specifically for your when Lauren is placed in your arms.

How precious and what a great gift to get updated pictures. Even though we are still waiting I totally understand you, her world will be turned upside down and backwards but since you are going into it prepared will be an advantage.
I hope the next month flys by for you so you can scoop her up as soon as possible

Oh Donna, she is the sweetest-looking little thing. And I totally get what you mean about the guilt factor. I still feel it on occassion even though Lily is thriving. I think it's called being a mom. :)

She is beautiful!! Look at all that hair! And those cheeks are just dying for 800 kisses.

I know exactly how you feel. It's hard to think that you are going to be responsible for a bit of sadness in her life. But think about all the joy you'll give too. Concentrate on that. :-)

You are smart to be prepared -- I hope her transition will be quick! It may be a few rough days/weeks, but she will learn quickly how much you love her!

Donna she has such a sweet face.

We went thru some of the same feelings, in fact, I still feel like I'm not doing enough for her, I guess it's something we just have to get thru.

She looks like she is receiving a lot of great care. Congratulations !

Hi and congratulations! Your little girl is so beautiful! My husband and I have been married for only a few months, but we are already looking into China adoption. Blogs like yours are so helpful - thank you for putting your journey out there for all to follow! Could I ask how you went about selecting an adoption agency? It is such a difficult decision, and we have no idea where to begin...any and all advice would be fabulous! Congrats again! I hope everything goes smoothly for you in your process to bring your sweet little girl home!

She is completely adorable! I remember having those same feeling about picking the girls up from their foster home. I was so happy for us, but so sad, they had been there for 6 months and created a bond. Now they are super bonded with us and do not seem to remember their early life.
