Set the VCR...

Anthony Bourdain No Reservations, on the Travel Channel, is in China this coming Monday, May 15th. If you've never watched this show, you might want to tune in for this episode. He usually gets right in there with the locals, eating the local cuisine (no matter how strange it is) and doing whatever the locals do for fun (usually something odd). It's not like the usual travel shows...he gets down and dirty. He'll be in Beijing and Chengdu, and it should be pretty interesting to see the China footage...I will definitely be watching.

Just an FYI...I saw this show back in March and don't get too freaked out about the food. Anthony Bourdain (whom I adore) seeks out the stranges food he can find! I have been to Hong Kong twice, and even though I have eaten some strange stuff, it has never been too extreme. I wouldn't be too concerned that you will be eating the same stuff he did. Chinese food can be daunting for some, but as long as you have an open mind the food is very tasty.

Lisa, you're not the only one still with slow dial-up service and no cable tv!

I'm a Bourdain fan, and look forward to business trips when I can catch his show at the hotel. I just purchased his new book, The Nasty Bits, for a friend. It's based on his travels for this show.
